The Firetree Project attempts to answer these two questions with a 24-foot tall, steel and copper sculpture. It represents the people, animals, and plant life living on a planet with a hospitable atmosphere, fertile soil, and water. The sun is represented, as is the ever-present force of gravity. Add past, present, and future time, plus a touch of artistic whimsy and you will recognize the Firetree and within it, the tall flame that symbolizes the energy and vision our global society holds to build a sheltering planet home with a strong future for all people on Earth. |
Earth is clearly our present and future planet home.
Whether it’s religious conflict, political divide, climate change, human rights, equity, food security, or your air conditioner isn't working, these issues all have one thing in common, they exist within the very finite space of our remarkable planet. It's unlikely that we'll be planet-hopping anytime in the near future. |
